Custom System Development Contact us
BioInfoRx can design any custom information management system to meet your life sciences needs. All of our employees have life science experience and can work with you to develop an information management workflow. Many clients have a vague idea of what they want and how to manage their information. We can turn that into a reality since we have lots of experiences developing customized life science software.
Since all of our solutions are web-based, the software can be securely accessed from different computers over a network or the internet. We can host the custom system on our servers and handle all of the IT maintenance like security, daily backups, server monitoring, and updates. If you would like to use your own servers we can also provide support for that.
We have worked with many research laboratories and small biotech and pharmaceutical companies around the world to provide many types of custom services. Contact us for sample projects we’ve finished and the potential solutions we can provide for you.
Why use BioInfoRx services?
-
BioInfoRx respects your time and understands your needs. We facilitate your research and business needs with targeted service strategies. Our efficient BxLIMS™ programming system allows fast production and prompt support.
-
BioInfoRx team speaks your language. Our technical staff has strong work experience in the life sciences. We understand our customers' research and business processes, their requirements, and their concerns. With fewer communications hurdles BioInfoRx offers the shortest possible product development time together with the highest possible software system quality.
-
Our customers focus on their work while we focus on developing their information management system. BioInfoRx teams work with you to develop the desired information management solution. Most of our customers do not have a clear picture of how to turn their processes into a web-based system. BioInfoRx teams will review customers' "messy," raw data and discuss their needs and desires with them to provide innovative solutions for managing their research (and business) data.
-
BioInfoRx guarantees fast uptime. Proprietary BxLIMS™ allows BioInfoRx to quickly provide state-of-the-art custom systems. BioInfoRx provides tools that allow you to view system development progress in real time.
-
BioInfoRx provides excellent and continual support of its customized systems. We provide services big and small to facilitate using BioInfoRx systems such as user registration, user authentication (login/logout), file sharing, support center, task management, group e-mails, system back-up, and more. Last, but certainly not the least important, BioInfoRx also provides continual system upgrades automatically, at no charge, to keep the web-based system state-of-the-art.
Why choose BxLIMS™ as the development platform?
-
BxLIMS™ is a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) developed with BioInfoRx Application Framework (BxLIMS™) technology.
-
BxLIMS™ allows setting up a web-based system in minutes.
-
With a system based on BxLIMS™, service providers can easily complete the critical service tasks, such as quick response to requests, real-time delivery of results, fast support, and more.
-
BxLIMS™ is continuously upgraded and all upgrades are automatically provided to customers at no cost.
-
BxLIMS™ is the most cost-effective way to provide professional service. BxWebDB tools allow customers to design custom databases and manage data online.
BioInfoRx Service Procedures
-
Review existing processes. BioInfoRx representatives review existing processes, current data recording/tracking methods, special requirements and concerns. The technical team will suggest process improvements that streamline the system.
-
Digitize existing data, categorize all related information, and provide initial database development solutions.
-
Install BxLIMS™ on a staging server, allowing customers to monitor development progress as well as review and test initial database designs.
-
Code agreed system solutions with BioInfoRx tools. Developers configure the system to meet customers' requirements. This may be an iterative process with customer review and testing of the system.
-
Customers test the new system with real data. Feedbacks help developers to improve the beta version and eventually release the production version.
-
Migrate data from historical system to newly developed web-based production system.
-
Post-development support and system maintenance.
Example Service Projects
Example 1: System for DNA sequencing companies
- Smart sequencing request submission. If virtual constructs or Genbank IDs are available, this tool analyzes the properties of the sequencing constructs, picks the right sequencing primers, records all information (colonies picked, regions to be sequenced, primers picked, and so on), and automatically send out / prints sequencing packing slips.
- Automated sequencing result analysis. This tool takes sequencing results and compares them to the virtual constructs (or Genbank IDs). It truncates the bad sequencing results (e.g., too many Ns) based on statistical analysis, performs fast sequence alignment, and reports the mutations, insertions, and deletions. In addition, the tool reports the "Perfect" region of the sequencing results, eliminating manual reading of the chromtograms. With this tool, analysis of sequencing results can be fully automated.
Example 2: System for DNA oligo synthesis companies
- This system manages information from all steps in the process, including customer ordering (e-commerce), internal order processing, oligo synthesis, printing product labels and packing slips, generating invoices, product delivery, and information reviewing and updating.
-
An important feature of the system is bioinformatics integration. The system calculates all required properties of the DNA/RNA oligos (e.g. MW, Tm, Eps and so on).
- The system comes with a comprehensive pricing system that takes care of complicated situations, such as price per base, special discount, individual pricing for purification, modification, and so on.
Example 3: System for transgenic animal facilities
- Complete coverage from service requesting to payment tracking. The system allows users to submit service request online, tracking project progress, and check off payment. The system allows facility members to track animal manipulation, ES cell manipulation and injection, animal information tracking, and generate project progress report.
- Barcode-enabled ES cell storage information tracking. The system integrated BxAF LabStorage system so that freezer items, including stored ES Cells for each customer are tracked with barcodes.
Example 4: LIMS for molecular biological laboratories
- Centralized storage, update, access control, and system configuration
- World-wide access and intuitive user interface
- Bioinformatics integration
- Electronic lab notebooks
- Instant result reports and dynamic project progress reports
- Forward information flow
- SQL: universal database connection and data exchange
- Multi-level control of security and automatic daily backup
- Cost-effective: taking advantage of the "free" resources
Example 5: A project information management system
- File Sharing. This tool solves the problem of sharing documents with high security. Only group members can access your shared files; nevertheless, they can not modify your shared files. It provides tools to manipulate directories and files (create, upload and download, delete, copy, move, and search). In addition, this module provides tree-view of directories and files.
- online File Storing. This tool saves files online with high security. Only file owners can access their files. It provides tools to manipulate directories and files (create, upload and download, delete, copy, move, and search). In addition, this module provides tree-view of directories and files.
- Group e-mails. WYSIWYG interface to compose HTML messages, capability to attach multiple files, and connection to database, allowing saving e-mails in database instead of on server. The composer is connected to database, allowing to send group e-mails, attach both client and server side files, and integrated with other tools.
- Public Discussion Forum. This tool enables users to discuss certain topics online instead of sending e-mails back and forth. All posted messages can be reviewed at any time anywhere with internet connection. A search tool provides great convenience to find previously posted messages.
- Private Group Discussion Forum. This tool enables users to discuss certain topics online among selected group members instead of sending e-mails back and forth. All posted messages can be reviewed at any time anywhere with internet connection. A search tool provides great convenience to find previously posted messages.
- Group-based Daily Task Management. This tool enables managing daily tasks. Registered users (assigners) can create new tasks for others (assignee). Assignee can add follow-ups to the tasks, update the task status, or delegate the task to others. The assigner can also re-assign the task to others. Both assigners and assignee will be able to review the tasks in real time. The task passed due time will be highlighted. File attachments are allowed. Automated e-mails will be sent out whenever task status has been changed.
- Group-based Announcements and Events. A good place to post announcements and group events. Readers can post follow-ups.
- Private Daily Notes. This tool provides a "diary"-like functions for users to record their daily notes. Only the owner can review the notes.
